A LITTLE ABOUT MY PAST!!!

I was born in Anahiem, California, but my former residence was Garden Grove, California. I lived there until 1988. My brother, Robert, was born in 1986. We moved to Torrance in 1988, and I began elementary school at Anza Elementary in February of 1988. I joined the band at Anza playing clarinet in the spring of 1994. That fall I started school at Jefferson Middle School, where I met a number of my current friends. I had my first boyfriend in 7th grade (1996), and started playing bass clarinet then. 8th grade was crazy, and I'd like not to talk about that. I moved into a new house in the summer of 1997, and went to my first band camp for West High School. I was switched to tenor saxophone at that point. In the summer of 1998, I joined the Torrance Area Youth Band, and became it's saxophone section leader (not bad for a freshman!). That summer, my current best guy friend transfered to West. We went to New York to perform in the 1998 Macy's Parade. Towards the end of my junior year of high school, I picked up trumpet (spring 2000). I competed in drum major competitions across California, and placed 5th in the state for Novice Conducting. I was saxophone section leader and vice president of the band my senior year of high school, and graduated with 2 scholarships and a grand total of 6 musical awards from the school.

And now I'm here at the University of Arizona, a music major/japanese minor, member of the Pride Of Arizona, Wind Symphony, Trumpet Ensemble, Steel Band, Tailgate Band, Pep Band, Trombone Choir and Campus Band.  I picked up trombone, and now with  no more than 3 months of working on the instrument, I've made the illustrious UA Trombone Studio, where this fall I will be studying with Tom Ervin, past ITA president.

Me and Joanna at the UA/ASU Exhibition, November 2001

This is me and my friend Joanna. She plays tuba at Arizona State University. Her sister also goes to ASU and is in the band. She's a good person, just a little misguided with her choice of schools!
